  1. Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha Thursday announced that next year's matriculation (Class X) examination will commence February 20. A notification issued by BSE said the annual High School Certificate, Madhyama and State Open School Certificate Examination for 2024 will be conducted from February 20, 2024, to March 4, 2024.

The Supreme Court Thursday granted an extension of tenure to Enforcement Directorate (ED) chief Sanjay Kumar Mishra till September 15 but lambasted the Centre for seeking an extension by stating if the entire department is ‘full of incompetent people’ except the incumbent chief. The apex court, however, made it clear that there will be no further extension.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will probe the case of sexual assault on two women who were stripped and paraded by a mob in Manipur and the government will seek its trial outside the state, officials said Thursday. The trial would be sought to be held in a court in neighbouring Assam, they said. The officials also said the Union Home Ministry is in touch with both Meitei and Kuki groups.

  20. RBI has clarified that banknotes with a star (*) symbol on the number panel are authentic. The symbol is an identifier indicating that the note is a replacement for defectively printed ones in a packet of 100 pieces of serially numbered banknotes. They are exactly similar to the other banknotes, but have an additional character, which is the *(star).
