  1. The West Bengal Forest department will soon issue a notification to ban the keeping of birds of Indian species at homes, minister Jyotiptriyo Mallick said.
  2. The Centre has transferred Rs704 crore upfront payment that it received from the sixth round of coal mine auctions to six states including Odisha, an official statement said Thursday. The amount has been transferred to coal-bearing states of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and West Bengal, the Ministry of Coal statement said.

  13. The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) network witnessed remarkable growth in July 2023, setting new records in both transaction volume and value. After a minor dip in June, UPI transactions surged by 44% year-on-year (YoY) and reached a staggering 15.34 lakh crore. The number of transactions also hit a new high of 996 crore, a significant increase of 58% compared to July 2022.
