  1. The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021 bill, the Act came into force from April 27. According to the legislation, “government” in Delhi means “Lieutenant Governor.”
  2. The Medical Oxygen Plant (MOP) technology, developed by DRDO for OnBoard Oxygen Generation for LCA, Tejas by DEBEL, DRDO will now help in fighting the current crisis of oxygen for COVID-19 patients. The oxygen plant is designed for a capacity of 1,000 litres per minute (LPM).The system can cater to 190 patients at a flow rate of 5 LPM and charge 195 cylinders per day.
  3. The CEO and owner of Serum Institute of India, Adar Poonawalla has reduced the price of Covishield vaccine by Rs 100 as a philanthropic gesture. The vaccines will be available to the states at Rs.300 per dose with immediate effect.
  4. More than 1 crore COVID Vaccine doses (1,06,19,892) are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
  5. Odisha government brought filling, distribution and transportation of liquid medical oxygen cylinders under the provisions of the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) to prohibit strikes. The order will remain in force for a period of six months with effect from the date of issue.
