  1. India recorded 62,480 new COVID-19 infections on Friday, besides 1,587 more fatalities, which took the country's total tally to above 2.97 crore cases and 3.83 lakh deaths, according to the Union health ministry.
  2. Odisha today witnessed a slight drop in its daily COVID-19 cases as 3,427  persons tested positive for the virus in last 24 hours. Yesterday, 3,806 infections were reported in the state. With the fresh cases, the state’s total caseload surged to 8,73,925.Of fresh COVID cases in all 30 districts, 1,954 are quarantine cases and remaining 1,473 local contact cases.
  3. As many as 42 COVID-19  patients in Odisha succumbed to the virus in last 24 hours taking the toll to 3550. The fresh deaths have been reported from 15 districts with highest six casualties recorded in Khordha district followed by four each in Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Puri and Sundargarh.

Examination, 2021, on the basis of suggestion of the Expert Committee after necessary approval by the Examination Committee and the Department of Mass Education. The CHSE today announced that the results of the annual Plus II examinations will be declared by August second week.

Legendary Indian sprinter Milkha Singh passed away Friday night at the age of 91.The 1958 Commonwealth Games champion and 1960 Rome Olympian had contracted Covid-19 30 days ago and had lost his wife, the former Indian national women’s volleyball team captain Nirmal Milkha Singh five days ago. The 91-year-old had contracted the virus last month. His wife, Nirmal Milkha Singh, had succumbed to the virus on June 13.
  7.  A Supreme Court judge on Friday withdrew herself from hearing the post-poll violence case in Bengal in which BJP workers were allegedly killed."I do not wish to hear the case. Not before me," Justice Indira Banerjee said as she recused herself from the case. Justice Banerjee is from Kolkata.

  13. The Election Commission (EC) has brought out an atlas on the 2019 Lok Sabha polls which carries all the data and statistical figures of the massive electoral exercise. The atlas, which has 42 thematic maps and 90 tables depicting various facets of the election, was released on June 15 by Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and Election Commissioners Rajiv Kumar and Anup Chandra Pandey
