  1. India's Covid chart continued to show improvement today, with the country recording 58,419 cases, the lowest in over 80 days. India, the second-worst hit country, now has 2.98 crore cases.
  2. Forty more persons succumbed to Covid-19 in Odisha during the last 24 hours. The Health and Family Welfare Department informed that as many as 3577 Covid positive cases were traced from Odisha within the last 24 hours.

  4. Families of Covid victims cannot be paid compensation as it applies to natural disasters only, the government told the Supreme Court, adding that states cannot afford to pay ₹ 4 lakh to every victim.

The ministry, in a statement, said 20,49,101 vaccine doses were administered as the first dose and 78,394 as the second dose in the 18-44 age group on Saturday.
