  1. At a special event held at Kalinga Stadium, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik  rewarded Birendra Lakra and Amit Rohidas with Rs 2.5 crore cash and offer letter for appointment as DSP in Odisha police. He appreciated the performance of the players in winning Bronze medal for the country.
  2. As many as 1107 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha during the last 24 hours while a total of 64802 samples were tested in the state, yesterday. The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) for the day stood at 1.70%. Khurda district registered highest 397 fresh infections, followed by Cuttack (130) and Balasore (66).

The Rajya Sabha has lost a total of 76 hours and 26 minutes due to disruptions during the monsoon session. After the session ended the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said, the productivity has been decided as 28 per cent. The average productivity of the previous five sessions was 95 per cent. The Rajya Sabha passed 19 bills this time.

  5. ISRO to launch GISAT-1 -The satellite is slated to be launched at 5.43 am today (12 Aug) on a geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh as a part of the GSLV-F10 EOS-03 mission.
  6. The constitutional amendment bill to restore the powers of the states to make their own OBC lists was passed by Parliament on 12 Aug, with the Opposition and treasury benches joining hands in the Rajya Sabha to approve the legislation.
  7. The General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Amendment Bill, 2021 was passed by Rajya Sabha on August 11 without discussion amid protests by the Opposition MPs. The bill aims to provide greater private participation in the public sector insurance companies.

  9. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the datasheet for class 10 and 12 offline exams. The datasheet has been released for class 10, 12 students who will appear in improvement, compartment or private category examinations. The class 10 exams will begin on 25 Aug & conclude on 08 Sep whereas the class 12 exam will begin on 25 Aug and will conclude on 16 Sep.
  10.  The Income tax department said. Excess interest amount or late fees paid by any taxpayer while filing income tax returns (ITR) for the financial year 2020-21 will be refunded. The deadline to file income tax for FY21 was extended from July 31 to 30 Sep.

  13. The 15th India-Singapore Foreign Office Consultations were held virtually on 11 Aug.
