- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today hoisted the tricolour at the iconic Red Fort as India celebrates its 75th Independence Day.
- President Ram Nath Kovind has approved 144 Gallantry awards to Armed Forces, police and paramilitary personnel on the eve of Independence Day. - A Trinamool youth leader was shot dead by unidentified persons in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, following which five people were arrested, police said on Saturday.
