  1. India reported 45,083 new Covid cases in the past 24 hours, slightly lower than yesterday's 46,759, taking the total infections to over 3.26 crore. 460 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total fatalities to over 4.37 lakhs so far.
  2. Odisha has a total of 849 persons, including 119 children below 18 years of age, tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha during the last 24 hours while a total of 68667 samples were tested in the state, yesterday. The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) for the day stood at 1.23%.

One Nation One Ration Card scheme now successfully running in 34 States, UTs after becoming operational in Delhi & West Bengal. Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in a statement said that two remaining states-Assam and Chhattisgarh are targeted for integration under ONORC in next few months.

Tamil Nadu Assembly adopts resolution against three farm laws : Tamil Nadu Assembly on 28 Aug (Saturday) passed the resolution moved by CM MK Stalin, urging the Centre to withdraw the three agriculture-related legislation, through voice vote. Tamil Nadu is the seventh Indian state to pass resolution against the farm laws, after Punjab, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Kerala and West Bengal.
