- President Ram Nath Kovind will honour 44 selected meritorious teachers on Teacher’s Day on September 5 this year. Two teachers from Odisha will receive National Awards to Teachers (NAT) 2021.They are Ashok Kumar Satpathy, Zilla Government School in Bhadrak and Ajit Kumar Sethy, Government UP School, Kanamana, Chatrapur in Ganjam.

- Afghan national team footballer died in a fall from a US plane at Kabul airport on 16 Aug, the Afghan news agency Ariana said. Zaki Anwari fell from a USAF Boeing C-17 and that the death had been confirmed by the General Directorate for Sport.
