  1.   President of India, Ram Nath Kovind has extended his heartfelt greetings on the eve of Merry Christmas.
  2. India reported 6,650 fresh coronavirus infections and 374 deaths on Friday, said the health ministry. This pushed the national tally to 3,47,72,626 and death count to 4,79,133. The active cases stand at 77,516.
  3. The Odisha cabinet on Friday approved to amend the provisions pertaining to reservation of seats of the Chairperson/Mayor in favour of Backward Class Citizens (BCC) in the Odisha Municipal Act, 1950 and Odisha Municipal Corporation Act, 2003.

  8. India’s Covid vaccination coverage has crossed 140 crore 93 lakh mark. The cumulative figure stands at 140 crore 93 lakh 45 thousand and 905 so far. Out of the total vaccination, more than 83 crore 42 lakh vaccine doses have been administered as first dose, while over 57 crore 50 lakh doses have been administered as second dose.
  9.  Delhi has administered first dose of Covid vaccine to 100 per cent eligible people. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, one crore 48 lakh 33 thousand beneficiaries were administered first dose.
  10. Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh handed over financial assistance to fifteen football clubs participating in the Manipur State League. This is the first time in the State that financial assistance is being provided to the football clubs participating in the Manipur State League.
  11. Chief Election Commissioner of India Sushil Chandra informed that the term of the Uttarakhand  State Legislative Assembly is ending on 23 March 2022. There will also be a system of voting at home for the voters above 80 years. VVPATs will be installed at all polling booths.  11,647 polling booths, including 623 new one will be set up.

  13. Foreign investors pulled out over 17,500 crore rupees from the Indian capital markets so far in December. According to the depositories data, Foreign Portfolio Investors pulled out 13,470 crore rupees from the equities markets, and 4,066 crore rupees from the debt market, resulting in a net withdrawal of 17,536 crore rupees from the Indian capital markets in December.
  14. Kannada filmmaker KV Raju passes away of heart attack aged 67 due to prolonged illness, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President DR Jairaj said on Friday. Raju began his career as an assistant director in 'Baadada Hoo' (1982). In 1984, he made his directorial debut in 'Olave Baduku'. He made his Bollywood debut with Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Prada starrer 'Indrajeet' (1991).
  15. Air Force's MiG-21 fighter jet crashes in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, pilot martyred. A MiG-21 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed during a training sortie in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer on Friday and Wing Commander Harshit Sinha was martyred.
  16. World's first dual-mode vehicle (DMV) that can run on both roads and railway tracks is set to make debut in Japan's Kaiyo on Saturday. The vehicle runs on rubber tyres on road and steel wheels descend from its underbelly when it arrives at an interchange. It runs at a speed of 60km/h on rail tracks and around 100km/h on roads.

  19. In a bid to cool down the domestic prices of Soya Meal, Government of India has issued an Order by which it has imposed stock limits on Soya Meal for a period upto June 30, 2022.
