  1. India on Friday recorded 1.49 lakh new Covid cases, taking the total tally to 4,19,52,712. The new cases were 13% lower than Thursday while the positivity rate also fell to 9.2%.
  2. The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admissions to post graduate medical courses will be held May 21, the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced Friday, a day after the Union Health Ministry sought postponement of the exam by six to eight weeks.

  9. The School and Mass Education Department Friday announced the timings for physical classes of schools that are set to reopen from February 7. Teaching hours are fixed from 10 am to 4 pm for students from Class-IX to XII in all educational institutions under S&ME Department. For students from Class I to VIII the teaching hours are from 9 am to 1 pm.
  10.  Department Secretary Saswat Mishra through an official letter to the principals of degree colleges and the vice chancellors of state public universities also directed them to resume classroom teaching and other academic activities in physical mode from February 7.
