- Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray resigned on Wednesday, minutes after the Supreme Court ruled that he must prove today that his government still has a majority.
- Elections to choose the next Vice-President of India will be held on August 6, the Election Commission announced today. The counting of votes, if needed, will also be held on the same day. The last date for nominations is July 17, the Commission said.

- Exports of marine products rose 30.26 per cent to $7.76 billion during 2021-22 as against $5.96 billion in previous fiscal year, the commerce ministry said Wednesday. India shipped 13,69,264 MT (metric tonne) of seafood worth `57,586.48 crore during 2021-22. “During 2021-22, the export improved in rupee term by 31.71 per cent, in USD terms by 30.26 per cent and in quantity terms by 19.12 per cent,” the ministry said in a statement.
