- Justice Dhananjaya Yashwant Chandrachud, who was part of the Supreme Court benches that delivered several landmark verdicts including the Ayodhya land dispute case, was sworn in Wednesday as the 50th Chief Justice of India (CJI).
- Six Lok Sabha MPs from Odisha have been nominated as the members to five parliamentary committees by Speaker Om Birla. Birla has nominated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Suresh Pujari and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Pinaki Misra as members of the Committee on Subordinate Legislation.
- BJP MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo has been nominated to the House Committee. Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka has been nominated to the Committee on Papers Laid on the Table while BJD MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu was nominated to the Committee on Government Assurances. BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi was nominated to the Committee on Ethics.
- A special court here Wednesday granted bail to Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut in a money laundering case pertaining to the Patra Chawl redevelopment project. Special Judge MG Deshpande, designated to hear PMLA cases allowed the bail plea of Raut after hearing arguments from both sides.
