  1. 1.Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced revised tax slabs and rates under the new regime to reduce the burden for all taxpayers. There will be no tax burden on up to Rs 12 lakh annual income, except special income.

  2. 2.Those earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually won't have to pay any income tax under the new regime. Add to it the standard deduction of Rs 75,000 and taxpayers with up to Rs 12.75 lakh annual income will have to pay zero tax.

  3. 3.Nirmala Sitharaman announced a Nuclear Energy Mission to promote research and development of small modular reactors, with an outlay of Rs 20,000 crore.

  12. 12.The Additional District & Sessions Court here Friday sentenced Prabin Dhurua, a resident of Sirisguda Kuanrmal under Laikera police limits, to life imprisonment for the murder of former vice chancellor of Sambalpur University (SU) Dhrubaraj Naik.
