Hindi Diwas

Hindi Diwas is observed on September 14, every year. On 14 September as on this day the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devanagri script in 1949 as the official language of the Republic of India. The decision was then accepted and it became a part of the Indian constitution on January 26, 1950. The first Hindi Diwas was celebrated in 1953. Hindi is the fourth most spoken language in the world after English, Spanish and Mandarin. World Hindi Day is celebrated on January 10. It is one of the 22 scheduled languages of the Republic of India. Hindi Diwas is dedicated to promote and propagate the official language.
