World Patient Safety Day

World Patient Safety Day is celebrated on September 17 every year to mark the world's understanding of the safety of patients. The day is celebrated by the World Health Organization, its international partners, and all the other countries. The World Patient Safety Day was established in May 2019, the 72nd World Health Assembly established the day with the adoption of resolution WHA72.6 on ‘Global action on patient safety.

World Patient Safety Day 2021 objectives are:

To raise global awareness on maternal and newborn safety issues, especially during childbirth.

To Engage stakeholders to improve maternal and newborn safety through effective and innovative strategies.

To Advocate best practices adoption at the point of care to prevent avoidable risks and harm to newborns and women during childbirth.

The World Patient Safety Day 2021 campaign includes a wide range of activities on and around 17 September 2021. These involve organising advocacy and technical events, lighting iconic monuments, landmarks, and public places.


Biswakarma Puja

Every year Vishwakarma Jayanti is celebrated as Lord Vishwakarma’s birthday. Lord Visvavarma is considered the creator of all the palaces of Hindu gods and goddesses, along with their weapons and vehicles. He is considered as the “divine architect”.

According to “Bisuddhasidhanta” it is celebrated as “Biswakarma Puja” on the last day of the Bengal Bhadra month in eastern Indian states such as Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Tripura. It is also called “Kanya Sankranti” or “Bhadra Sankranti”. The workers, carpenters, mechanics, craftsmen and other workers. They pray to Lord Visvakarma for success in their respective fields and smooth operation of their machines. Craftsmen honor their tools on this day.
