National Science Day

National Science Day is celebrated every year in India on 28 February.

The day is to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by the Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. On this day in 1928, he discovered a phenomenon of scattering of photons which was later known as ‘Raman Effect’ after his name. For this discovery, he was honoured by the Nobel Prize in Physics subject in 1930 .
