20 February - Arunachal Pradesh Foundation Day

Arunachal Pradesh Foundation Day is celebrated on 20 February . On this day it gained the status of the Union Territory and named as Arunachal Pradesh. The North-East Frontier Agency was renamed as Arunachal Pradesh by Sri Bibhabasu Das Shastri, the Director of Research and K.A.A. Raja, the Chief Commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh on 20 January 1972.  It became a union territory. And  later Arunachal Pradesh became a state on 20 February 1987.

 


20 February - World Day of Social Justice

World Day of Social Justice is observed every year on 20 February since 2009 .t encourages people to see how social justice affects poverty eradication. The main aim of this day is to achieve full employment and support for social integration. This day tackle issues like poverty, exclusion, and unemployment. The principles of Social Justice are upheld to promote gender equality or the rights of indigenous people and migrants. Promoting development and human dignity through Social Justice is the core value of the UN.

World Day of Social Justice is not a public holiday rather a global observance that is in effect since 2009. More than one hundred international political leaders held a World Summit for Social Development in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1995, to fight against poverty and full employment and aspired that they would also strive to have stable, and safe societies.  Finally, 20th February was declared as the annual World Day of Social Justice by the United Nations on November 26, 2007.
