1555: The Mughal ruler Humayun reached Delhi after defeating Alexander Suri at Sirhind.

1761: Madhavrao Ballal Bhat became the 9th Peshwa in the Maratha Empire.

1829: William Austin Burtt of America patented the typograph, which later led to the development of typewriters.

1877: First telephone and telegraph line laid in Hawaii.

1881: The International Gymnastics Association established the Confederation of Sports. It is the oldest sports federation in the world.

1903: Motor Company Ford sold its first car.

1927: The first radio broadcast was started by the Radio Club in Mumbai, which was later converted into All India Radio.
