1783 – Brittan finally recognized the independence of the United States of America. The treaty of Paris marked the end of the American Revolution following two years of secret negotiations between beleaguered Britain and the colonial Rebels.

1916  Home Rule League in India was established by British social reformer and Indian Independence leader Annie Besant.

1939 – New Zealand, Australia, Britain, and France declared war on Germany after Germany invented Poland on September 1.

1950 – The first world driving championship was won by Nino Farina of Italy at the Monza Grand Prix.

1971 – Qatar became an independent state.

1976 – The American spacecraft Vikings II landed on Mars and sent photographs back to Earth.

2017 – The sixth and most powerful nuclear test was conducted by North Korea.

1992 – Sakshi Malik, Indian wrestler. Won Bronze medal in 2016 Olympics. She became the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics.

1944 – John Lumsden, Irish physician. He founded the St. John Ambulance Brigade of Ireland.

1991 – Frank Capra, Frank Russell Capra was an Italian-American film director, producer, and writer who became the creative force behind some of the major award-winning films of the 1930s and 1940s.

1953 – Khapru Mama Parvatkar, Indian Tabla player.

2012 – Michael Clarke Duncan, American actor. He earned critical acclaims for his award-nominated role in The Green Mile.

2015 – Chandra Bahadur Dangi. A Nepali with a maximum height of 54.6 cm. He was recorded as the shortest human in the world in the recorded history of mankind.
