1886: Karl Benz of Germany built the world’s first automobile. Hedrove the first automobile in Mannheim, Germany, reaching a top speed of 16 km/h (10 mph).

1886: The New York Tribune became the first newspaper to use a printing machine.

1938: World speed recorded for a steam locomotive was set in England, by the Mallard, which reached a speed of 125.88 miles per hour.
