 1386 : The oldest university in Germany, Heidelberg University was founded.

1867 : The United States took possession of Alaska after purchasing it from Russia for $7.2 million.

1879 : The Theosophical Society was established.

1906 : Depressed Class Mission established by Maharshi Vitthal Ramji Shinde.

1922 : Establishment of the British Broadcasting Corporation.

1954 : Texas Instruments announced the first transistor radio.

 1963 : Lord Home was elected as the next Prime Minister of the UK after an uproar for leadership in the Conservative Party.

1967 : Soviet Russia’s Venera-4 spacecraft lands on Venus.
