1906 : Theodore Roosevelt became the first President of the United States to leave the country during his tenure. They visited the Panama Canal.

1937 : Japanese troops occupied the Chinese city of Shanghai.

1947 : Junagadh Sansthan was dissolved and taken over by the Government of India.

1953 : Cambodia gained independence from France.

1960 : Robert McNamara became chairman of the Ford Motor Company.

1967 : The first issue of Rolling Stone magazine was published.
