- India reported 2,64,202 fresh COVID-19 infections in 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday. The new cases mark a 6.7 per cent jump from the 2.47 lakh daily cases reported on Thursday.
- The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD)’Statement of Climate on India during 2021′ released on Friday also said that 172 lives were lost in cyclones (10 per cent) that hit the Indian coasts, while other extreme events, including cold wave, dust storm, gale, hailstorm and snowfall, took 32 lives (2 per cent) during the same time, taking the total to 1,750 lives lost.

- India added 2,47,417 new coronavirus infections, the highest single-day rise in the ongoing wave, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,63,17,927, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.
